Quake III Arena is a 1999 multiplayer-focused first-person shooter developed by id Software.
The third installment of the Quake series,
Arena differs from previous games by excluding a story-based single-player mode and focusing primarily on multiplayer game play.

It is still possible to play Quake 3 Arena even after all of these years.
There is a Quake 3 software called Ioquake3 which l think is still being developed,
which can be used on Windows Linux and macOS.
On the Ioquake3 site it explains all you need to install and run on all three operating systems
and also how to run servers on Windows and Linux.
